i had a 100% pirate free PC runing windows XP and after installing a game which had StarForce many of my appliations randomly stopped working. executables such as Ghisler’s Total Commander stopped working. Putty.exe stopped working and the game itself was unable to un-install. horrible experience, anti-piracy software is a big pain.

anitipiracy technology only hurts those customers that do not pirate. The pirates themselves never have to worry about this crap infesting their systems.

Ok here’s what you do… Buy the game legally… find a tool to remove things like Starforce and then download a crack which will let you run the game. You aren’t doing anything illegal here… you are simply modding the game to work on your PC without having to put up with all the problems associated with Starforce etc…

There you have it. Thanks for that tidbit, MENOTBUG. Since the DMCA won’t let you crack your legally purchased game, the only choice left is to download the cracked version of the game from a torrent site for free. Problem solved. :d

Or simply not buying the game at all, send a message this way that you wont support this crappy copy protection schemes.

Nothing new, nothing of interest. It was also known from so long, but now that a “editor” post it, then becomes interesting (maybe he can obtain some credit). TIP1: “Rumours” ( i prefer to call it “facts”) were spread by same pirates that crack it. There is no people thats knows better how something work that people that dissasembly it. TIP2: Not “legal”, of course, but etic correct. TIP3: The EULA stated by game contract states no copy can be done from licensed software…but…legally, country policy about this overrides this. KEEP IT IN MIND. If in ur country is allowed a copy for backup purposes, u can copy it, even if EULA states the opposite. The same applies to cracks. If u bought it, u have rights to use it, with or without copy-prot (more safe this latest one in SF cases).
