SSD RAID0 Trim support?

Two SSD RAID0 Trim support ?
TIA

#2

Not at the moment, and maybe never.
It’s not simple to get TRIM working over RAID.
The firmware and SSD controller has to support it, which is no problem.
The RAID driver has to pass the TRIM command, that appears to be a problem.
The RAID controller and RAID BIOS also has to pass TRIM, and that also seems to be a problem.

Thanks for the info Dee
one more Question
if i using Single SSD which one I choose ( SATA IDE mode or AHCI mode )
which one is better ?
Thanks

#4

It depends on the SSD, but usually AHCI mode gives a slight performance boost.
You’ll have to switch to IDE mode to flash any new firmware on any SSD though.

Thanks again Dee
litttle difficult update f.w
Think about getting OCZ Vertex Limited Edition 100GB $399 or
Corsair Reactor 120GB $299
three more hour thinking

#6

thinking is over
I just got OCZ Vertex Limited Edition 100GB $399 from Micro Center
Hope I it is better than OCZ APEX

Hope I it is better than OCZ APEX
The Vertex LE (limited ediition) is currently the most powerful and fastest MLC SSD (single drive) available. It’s 2 generations ahead of the Apex.

Burnsama prepare to be wow’ed!

Thanks Dee and MegaDETH

No time to play with my new toy
and I did not choose which PCs are use this New toy
( think I it must one of X-58 based PC )

P.S I try to post test result soon as I can

#10

Quick Test
CPU I7-920 ( OC 3.4ghz )
Mobo ASUS P6T
RAM OCZ Blade series CL9 DDR3 2000 2GB X 6 = 12GB ( running 1700Mhz )
O.S Vista Ultimate 64bit / OS HDD WD Cavier BK 500GB ( RAID0 )
HD Tune 4.01 wrong reading temperature ?

#11

One more
same spec above post
crystaldiskmark 3.0

#12

Thanks for posting these results, Burnsama.
4K random writes, and 4K (Queue Depth 32) results are awesome on this SSD. :iagree:

AS SSD benchmark is also a good benchmark for SSD.

Also, you can ignore the temperature reading on HD Tune, as it can’t read SSD smart data accurately.

#13

Thanks Dee
I do more post late tomorrow with AS SSD benchmark

P.S under costrution change case and PSU…and many more

#14

Heavy Under Construction

one more Question
without trim support SSD RAID0
what’s happening about SSD performance ?
( I didn’t give up SSD RAID0 )
Thanks

#15

It’s a bit early to say with these Sandforce based drives what effect losing TRIM will have. They are supposed to have very good GC to keep the drives clean. But i don’t think anyone has had the Vertex LE long enough to be sure of this.

Plus, the level of performance that the Vertex LE is pumping out, i doubt you will notice a real difference in speed with RAID0. Also remember, if you want to copy files around, you’ll need a very fast RAID0 array to copy the files too, if you want to take advantage of the speed of the Vertex LE array.

Thanks for the info Dee
about using 4 to 6 week think about getting second Vertex LE ( maybe earlier )
and I did order Two Intel 80 GB X25M SSD GEN2 for RAID 0 set up

Hope I everythings done this week

#17

OCZ Vertex LE ( 100GB )
CPU I7-920 ( 2.67Ghz )
Mobo ASUS P6T ( AHCI mode )
RAM OCZ Blade series CL9 DDR3 2000 2GB X 6 = 12GB ( Running Speed ? )
Vista Ultimate 64bit ( Up to date / Mar / 19 )
AS SSD benchmark

#18

First Intel 80 GB X25M GEN2
CPU I7-920 ( 2.67Ghz )
Mobo ASUS P6T ( AHCI mode )
RAM OCZ Blade series CL9 DDR3 2000 2GB X 6 = 12GB ( Running Speed ? )
Vista Ultimate 64bit ( Up to date / Mar / 19 )

#19

Second Intel 80 GB X25M GEN2
CPU I7-920 ( 2.67Ghz )
Mobo ASUS P6T ( AHCI mode )
RAM OCZ Blade series CL9 DDR3 2000 2GB X 6 = 12GB ( Running Speed ? )
Vista Ultimate 64bit ( Up to date / Mar / 19 )

Coming Soon Intel X25M GEN2 RAID 0

#20

Intel 80 GB X25M GEN2 RAID0
CPU I7-920 ( OC 3.6ghz )
Mobo ASUS P6T
RAM OCZ Blade series CL9 DDR3 2000 2GB X 6 = 12GB ( running 1800Mhz )
Vista Ultimate 64bit ( Up to date / Mar / 19 )

I stay with Intel :iagree:
Don’t want OCZ SSD ( below 20% Reaad over 40% Write performance :a )
what they doing ?
