I am by no means an expert in any field here, but i keep hearing a lot of stuff about NEC drives being bad readers??
I have been using an NEC 3500 for some time now with NO Reading and or writing problems.
I put another NEC 3500 drive in my wife's PC a week after mine and she has had no problem.
About 2 months ago I installed a NEC 3500 in my son's Pc which gets used a lot LOL and he has had no problems.
I have installed NEC 3500s in 4 machines for friends, so I asked them if they were having any reading or writing problems and they all said NO, they love the drives.
Now, none of these people but me and my son scan disks we burn, they just use them.
So far, the only coasters I have heard about produced by any of these drives were caused by operator error and or cheap media and even those have not amounted to more than a few bucks worth of media in all those drives LOL.
I also have a LiteOn 1693s in my machine which is a very nice drive that I do not have problems with.
Also, all of these NEC drives are using Liggy & Dee modified firmware that I update for them when a stable update is available with the exception of the drive in my wife's PC which uses only official NEC firmware. I do this so I can compare, and so far, the Liggy & Dee firmware has been very helpful (thanks )
Sorry for running a muck here, but all these " I have this drive, so everyone should have it cause it's the best" replys seem to be less than helpful and definitely have nothing to do with the latest Liggy & Dee firmware????
I am not good with the scanning and capturing thing, but so far, my ritek G05s, Sony 08D1s, and TyG03s have all burned with no problems as far as being used for what they were made for.
I realize this not much tech help, but our NECs with the Liggy & Dee firmware just plain work well with almost no unusable disks.
Thanks for the great firmware
