Ok, I know this is not really a CD Freaks related topic, but I guess for loads of visitors it's quite important so why not post it? More CPU power always comes in handy when encoding DivX movies and playing games...
Well.... today AMD officially announced their new CPU: AMD Athlon 4. At first it will only be available for the mobile market, but soon the desktop market will follow.
What the new cpu offers you?
-less power consumption (-> lower temperatures)
-faster because of a new core with some nice new optimalisations
-higher clock speeds supported
What it's gonna cost and how much the performance increases and about the motherboard compatibility...... still unknown.
But hey, the big competition is out there so prices won't be high. They are expected to be lower than Intel's worse performing Pentium 4....
