hey guys, i hope im not in the wrong section. but i recently started archiving some valuable data and all my burns are on Verbatim dvd+dl media (made in singapore).
now my problem is that when i run kprob/diskspeed i get a big spike at the beggining, other than that the burns seem fine. i tried testing the media on different drives (a samsung using kprobe, and an optiarc using nero diskspeed). while on the sammy the spike is nearly 800 on the optiarc it is at 300ish. my question is, is this acceptable for data/videos/pictures that will be used occasionally through out the years? or will it give me problems?
The reason i used verbatim was because i read it was the best DL brand and while more expenisive than single layer, the pro of having half the DVDs is a must as i need to archive 500 gigs of data including home vidoes of family events, raw format SLR files, business records, and other misc things.
i attached the result from the sammy, thought i zoomed so youd be able to better see the rest of the dvd check, if you look at the text the max is at 763, its also right at the beggining... is this a good burn or should i try diffrent media/burner? i dont think its just a bad disk, as i have 4 of them (of different data) with similar results.
thanks and sorry for the long winded post
