SONY? Plexor? Pioneer? WHICH ONE!

1 Sony - 16x Internal Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive DRU-720A

2 Plextor - 16x Internal Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive PX-716A

3 Pioneer - 16x Internal Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black DVR-A09XLB

Which one do i need to Buy if i want to make backups of DVD Movies that I own?

i have a pioneer 106/7/8/9 and a nec 3520a the nec seem better than my 108/9 but can not say why ,it just feels better funny really.
the pioneer was always buging me (108/9)did not seen right, the nec suprised me and they do to same

From these ones I’d really choose the Pionner but be sure to put the 1.40 firmware in there.

Since you want to backup movies I would recommend a drive that is capable of booktyping +r/rw media to dvd-rom (most compatable format, same format as retail pressed dvd’s). Pioneer won’t do this. Sony will (rebadged lite-on), plextor will, BenQ will, lite-on will, and NEC will with modified f/w.

Of the three for movie back ups it would be the Plextor. However for the price of the Plextor you could get 2 NECs or 2 Benqs or a Nec and a Benq. I have both, 2 NECs and a Benq. My brother-in-law has 5 Plextors and I have used all of his at one time or another and don’t think I’m missing out by not having one.
