Sony dvd +-rw dw-d56a

sony dvd ±rw dw-d56a

I have a kind of similar problem since I upgraded my itunes. Earlier when starting itunes it used to give me a message saying that dvd/cd write functions in itunes may not work correctly because dvd drivers for other programmes caused a conflict. But I was happy to write with nero using dvd+r discs.

I upgraded itunes. the earlier message no longer appears. but now when i try burning dvd-r (this is a new packet, as the earlier dvd+r ran out) discs, nero seems to show that disc burned successfully, but data can’t be verified. newly shown to be burnt discs do not read.

when i put in a blank dvd-r, my D drive becomes CD Drive (D:) from DVD - RW (Drive D:).

I have tried burning using iso, udf both, without success on nero. I even uninstalled and reinstalled nero. no luck.

I can write and read Cds.The old DVD+r burnt earlier can be read, as can the other DVDs be. The problem thus seems to be in burning.

I have checked the ide controlelr and my dma is enabled.

is the problem because of dvd-r discs?

Here is my latest log. I am getting desperate and tried writing a small file of only around 44 MB using iso/udf .

Okay, have just started burning. Chose ISO1 in nero burning rom. The first thing I notice is that while Nero Burning Rom, on pressing disc info before I started burning, recognised the blank disc as DVD+R, and showes the blank space as always, in My Computers, the DVD(RW) Drive (DSmile becomes CD Drive (DSmile, the minute the blank CD is put in and it shows 0 free space and O files. Let me see what happens when burning finishes. 54 % done, so still some to wait before we know what is happening…

Damn! The disc took its own time burning, and then as for DVD-R, here too the ‘data verification failed’. Here is the full log of my nero session:

Whew. While the data verification failed, after switching off Nero burning rom, when I went into My Computer, it surprisingly showed, New D: (DVD ROM) and the files have been burnt! What gives. Much as I am thrilled at this, I do not know what to make out of Nero failing to verify data!

So as advised, I disabled the ANSI driver by simply renaming it:

Now, myy log which shows ‘data verification failed’ is given below. Strangely enough, I have been able to burn and my drive reads them AFTER I switch off Nero burningrom is appended at the below.

In addition, just out of curiosity, I checked the driver files for my DVD from device manager:
