Why will it only burn at x16. My other drive will burn at x8… Any help???

Really not much more to say…
My sony will only burn at x16 even if x8 is chosen. I use TY x8 DVD+R. My Lite-on would burn the same media as x8 if choosen. Why is it burning at such a high rate?
Please post a logfile.
Is the firmware used patched??
