I thought I would like to share my experience with Daxon (Taiwan)-made Sony DVD-R media. Contrary to what other websites with “authority” have previous stated, I believe that Sony 8X and 16X DVD-R (from Taiwan or Malaysia) is overall poor in quality and does not deserve the good reputation that it has.

My experience shows that the disc-to-disc variation even between discs from a single package is unacceptable. Furthermore, even with a DVD/BD writer with a well-tuned write strategy for this MID, error rates with respect to the total number of PIFs across entire discs is very high and rarity will a 16X or higher write return acceptable results.

Attached is is a summary of results from the best burn of the day.

I read somewhere that actual Sony DVD-media is made by MBI, even with MBI-mediacode.

2day I saw at Müller (Germany) cakeboxes with 25pcs -R/+R Made in Taiwan. Anyone have an idea which manufacturer it could be? Lead Data, Ritek?

Daxon or Lead Data, if they are old enough (2008 and older), newer media are most likely made by Ritek.

Thanks, next time I go shopping there I will give a try. It´s not cheap but I´m sick of buying media which are MBI-made.

I bought a cakebox, it´s RITEKF1. Was the last cakebox of Sonx -R, maybe next time I go there they will have MII :\
