Ive been using this awsome burner for three years and today, I havent been abel to burn one disc all day at any speed

It wont go past 1%

Here is the picture of the error

Please help me fix this, I dont want to buy another burner

Thanks

#2

Welcome to the forum

If you could sacrifice another burn for this - could you burn another disc, and when Nero asks if you’d like to save the error log, could you post it here?

It would help narrow down the problem - but please remove your serial number from it before posting it.

#3

alright no problem, give me a few mins

#4

Very good suggestion, Arachne  ! It’s also possible to cut & paste the latest burn log from the “NeroHistory.log” file which can be found under Program Files/Ahead or Nero.

#5

^^ thanks

The only difference I can see is that you now have ASPI 4.60 installed. Did you? Or maybe you installed KProbe for scanning? There’s something called “killaspi” to remove it, if you google you’ll find it. With Nero’s wnaspi32.dll the burn succeeded. You could also update your Nero, 7.2.3.2 is old now (download the update from Nero).

the problems occured b4 the aspi update, i tried to install that to fix it but it didnt work and an old version of nero shouldnt be the root of the problem

I went to Sony and preformed a Drive check, here is what came up

[01/05/2007 01:33:34 PM] 1 log - 4.4 GB Blank DVD-R
[01/05/2007 01:33:34 PM] 1 log - Testing drive: SONY DVD RW DRU-510A (1.0d)
[01/05/2007 01:33:34 PM] 1 log - Begining Test
[01/05/2007 01:33:34 PM] 1 log - Begining DVD Write
[01/05/2007 01:36:36 PM] *** err - Failed to write data to track
[01/05/2007 01:36:36 PM] *** err - edwWriteData returned the following error: ASPI - 80 (Invalid SRB_Cmd)

Can it be fixed?

#10

any ideas?

#11

i just need to know can it be fixed or will I need to buy a new one

#12

I’m sorry, Overmind1632, I don’t know. I never seem to run in this kind of problem, but I’ve come to run a super clean Windows over time. I’d guess a fresh XP install would solve it.

#13

I tried it on a different computer, still no success

#14

Could be time for a new one then. With 3 years it’s served you well. It doesn’t support currently available 16X media anyway (the last firmware is from May 2004). You may be able to fit a newer Sony (DRU-810A/820A/830A) in the existing enclosure (check the length of the drive).

Your burn logs show that you’re using TDK DVD-R 8X TTG02 media. Not all of these are good, have you tried with other known good media (I would suggest Verbatim DVD+R 4X MCC 002 or 8X MCC 003)?

#15

I got a new one off ebay so hopefully it will be here soon, I got the Sony DRU 700

#16

Okay  . The DRU-700 is an older 8X drive - hope it was cheap and comes in factory sealed condition. It’s a Lite-On SOHW-832S rebadge by the way, so you can have fun with the codeguys firmwares and tools if you wish (http://codeguys.rpc1.org/index.html). Good luck!
