Ja, I've tried different Jumper settings. CS and Slave, or Master.
My BIOS check list came up with the Conductor 80 missing on both IDE 1 and 2 so I got a new IDE Cable with that pin 80....for the DVD writers. Still old cable on IDE1.
The Sony DRU830A is on the 2nd Channel 1 Master, with another DVDROM on 2 Slave.
I've tried the Sony on Master on IDE 1 with Drive on Secondary. Same problem. Maybe it needs to be Secondary, with the Hard Drive on Master? That would be very weird though.
I can see the drive in "My Computer". When I add a new disk, 'Auto Play' asks what I want to do with the disk, which is fine....
But when I add a previously written disk, it days is a CDRom with an empty disk and asks if I want to open a writeable folder on it? If I "double click" on the drive, I get the Incorrect Function error with nothing displayed.
If I go via Device Manager and into the CDROM properties, to try to Populate the properties of the device, I get blank, nothing....
But that same disk I can put in another DVD in another computer, and it reads it?
The very weird thing, is that I used have a CDwriter on slave, and the DVD Writer on Master. I removed the CD Writer, and put in the original DVDROM on slave. I put the written DVD-R into the DVDROM Drive. and first time spat it out. The next time, it read it fine. So I put that DVD-R back into the DVDRAM drive, and it READ IT!
30 minutes later, I tried again, and the DVD-RAM didn't read it.
I took the drive back to the seller for testing. He installed it on his machine, wrote a dvd and was able to read it in the same dvdram drive! Now, I'm very upset
I read that the Nvidia 3.3.2 IDE drivers were buggy, so I rollbacked to the original versions, and then back to the Microsoft's standard drivers. Same problem?
