Sony DRU-500A question: Double-Sided DVDRW

hi guys…
i’m going to buy this burner as i found it in the market here…but i have some questions …

first, does it support the dual sided single layer 9.4 GB media ?
does it work good with PS2 and XBOX ?
and is the writing quality good?

thanks.

yes, double sided (2x 4.7gig) is available, but i didn’t see it were i live

Hi!
Very good for Ps2, and for X-box i think too. Ok the quality.
The problem is WHERE FIND IT!!! Any news?

This recorder can write the double sided dvd+/-r (2x4,7Gb)???
It’s true???

Double sided discs are compatible to single sided ones.

However, some may be rejected due to bad quality

maybe i didnt get it the right way,so to make it clear.does this sony supports burning for 9.4 GB DVDs?

you burn first to side a, then flip it over and burn side b
so it can be burned with the dru500

but it doesn’t burn both sides at the same time

wow, thats great.i thought of it this way,but i wanted to know if this is really possible.gonna go buy it i think!

I edited the thread title a bit. Double-sided DVD media are both expensive and unsafe compared to Single-Sided DVD media. I think DVD-RAM 9.4GB is better in that regard as the discs can be protected in cartridges (which further makes them even more expensive.)
