Yesterday Sony dropped the prices of the Playstation 2 and today Microsoft has announced it will also the drop the price of its Xbox. The Playstation is currently available at USD 179 and the Xbox now should leave the store when you have paid USD 179.99 for it. Sony dropped the price of its Playstation 2 because it will be releasing a new version soon that online game play and modifications to the hardware that allows it to play home-made DVDs. Microsoft has not disclosed any information why it has dropped the price of the Xbox, but it is of course likely it wants to remain competitive to the PlayStation 2.
