I do not know if anyone else has had problems with the free update for Sonic MyDvd, but when I installed it my DVD and CD-RW disappeared. I got them back using system restore to a point before the installation, then I tried removing the original installation again, and had problems removing it. There was nothing wrong with my drives, something about the update caused them to disappear. I have since removed all of the Sonic software from my computer.:a
An update: There is absolutely no support for the Sonic MyDvd software, they won't even answer the requests.
Final update: I finally figured out how to get rid of the Sonic Software no thanks to Sonic. I uninstalled everything except Showbiz but apparently the MyDvd had what was needed for the uninstall of Showbiz. I installed everything again, then had to run a repair to get everything back to what the original install showed. Then I uninstalled Showbiz first, then the other programs, Sonic Simple backup, etc. Then I uninstalled MyDvd last. It finally worked.
I have to say it is one of the most awful programs to install and uninstall that I have ever seen. Apparently the programmers did not think to write code under the cancel button in Sonic BackupNow because when I tried to cancel the install of it, I just went into a loop and the same dialog box kept coming up and I kept hitting the cancel button, but it would look right back.
I would recommend others look for different programs for DVD.
