Is the Sonic brand media sold by shop4tech any good? I was considering trying them as I only burn no faster than 4x.

Anyone?

Thanks.

NO!!! Sonic are Fake Taiyo Yuden discs that are made by Infosmart in Hong Kong. If you want cheap 4x media but still want good quality then check out http://www.supermediastore.com. 4x Value Line Taiyo Yuden DVD-R in a 100 pack for $32 shipped. Could be even less if there is a valid coupon code for them ATM. These are authentic TY discs but they are their value line which means that their quality is just a hair lower than the premium TY that you would normally get from www.rima.com. However all of the results that I have seen on them so far are excellent and they certainly rate much higher than the Infosmart discs. Well worth the extra $9 per pack over the sonics IMHO.

He is right both the sonic and matric are shop4tech brands and I skipped the sonic and ordered the matrix which is a little higher and they still are not that good. I could only burn 4x disk at 2x and even with that they sometimes stop during the play of the movie and also would not play on all players. I went to there prodisc 8x that has azo dye and have been able to burn 8x at 12x without any stopping and they play on all the players I have tried. shop4tech has the 8x prodisc with the azo dye but they also have other prodisc 8x that are a few cents cheaper and do not have the azo dye. I checked at some of the other sites listed and most did not say if the disk were the prodisc with the azo dye.
sure wish sites would list the Mfrg code for all there disk so you could tell what you are getting. This is the ones I order from shop4tech and they came in wrappers that just said dvr-r 4.7gb and did not say they were prodisc.
I ran dvdinfo on them and this is what it said.

Speaking from experence I would stay away from shop4tech cheap brands since for a few cents more they will sell you a name brand.

Thanks for the warning. I took the advice the ther first responder and I ordered 200 4x TY from supermediastore.

I wish that I had seen their current deal on DVD slim cases else I would have saved $12 on 200($32, free ship) versus paying $46 to shop4tech for 200.
