Some DVD+R work and some don't

I’ve been using ConvertXtoDVD for a couple months now and burning DVDs fine. I was using Memorex DVD+R 16x that I had from a while back. Those were working fine so I brought more Memorex DVD+R 16x with the same exact stats and now when I burn and try to play it in my DVD player it says wrong disc. I tried it on my laptop and the file is empty but yet the DVD is burned. Upon looking at my log, I noticed that my burner is a: pioneer dvd-rw dvr-k17a. I dont know why one DVD+R was working and not the new ones I brought. Here are 2 logs, first one worked, second didnt.

I’m stumped:( Should I just use DVD-R?

I was using Memorex DVD+R 16x that I had from a while back. Those were working fine so I brought more Memorex DVD+R 16x with the same exact stats and now when I burn and try to play it in my DVD player it says wrong disc.

Same stats maybe, but 2 different discs.

Unless your drive can booktype (to DVD-ROM) the less compatible +R discs, -R would make sense.

My personal favorites. Pioneer drives do very well with these. They also work well in older burners.

Your example also shows that the ‘Brand Name’ discs are often manufactured by various makers.

Just to add your RITEK-F16-01 were written at 2.4x and that is the only speed available so that would mean the firmware for your Pioneer does not have that MID included in the firmware. Your RICOHJPN-R03-04 are fine as you have options to burn it at 8x, 6x, 4x, 2.4x.

As MysticEyes posted use TY’s or Verbatim when using that drive. Who knows what will be in a pk of Memorex.
