I have read mixed ideas about whether you can copy a movie from a DVR from a satellite company to a DVD player and it work. Some say you can, others say they are having trouble with copywrite protection.
If I can record a movie from HBO or Cinimax onto a DVD with my DVD recorder, then why wouldn't I be able to record a DVD from a receiver with DVR? Where does the copywrite protection come from that wasn't there without the DVR?
I have read where some movie companies would like to get the FCC to pass rules where the DVR might not be able to record some movies from premium channels.
At present I can record movies or what ever from my satellite company onto a DVD, but I have to be there to change channels if some shows come on different channels. I was hoping a DVR would make that easier for me.
If I won't be able to record from the DVR to a DVD or if the DVR won't be able to record some shows in the first place, then why should I invest in a DVR or would it be the best solution?
Do you use DVR's and what are your thoughts or solutions to these questions?
