SOHW-1693S Stops Responding

Hi guys, hoping someone may have some ideas on this.

I'll get the BIOS and it reports the drive correctly. During Windows XP x64 boot, the drive fails and stops responding as if not powered. Once in Windows obviously it continues not to work and Device Manager does not see the drive.

However, if I keep inserting/ejecting the drive, Windows <i>will</i> detect the drive and once booted, it continues to work. It did the same with Windows Vista x86 and x64 (Build 5112). So looks like hardware.

i don't have 64bit but with windows longhorn b4074 to vista b5112 my 1653s works normally. must be a x64 issue.

As mentioned it happens in both Windows x64 and x86, be it XP or Vista (so it's not isolated to just 64bit Windows). It now stays powered but Windows does not automatically detect the drive. I have to go into Device Manager and do a Scan For Hardware Changes in order to get Windows to detect it.

You might try a different power connection; mine worked after I used a different plug. Of course, your jumpers are set correctly?
