SOHW-1633S won't burn with Nero

I have been trying to make a data backup disk with Nero and have made 6 frisbees due to burn errors. I am using a Leadtek Nforce2 mobo. All the firmware and drivers are up to date. Using Verbatim 16x DVD+R.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is driving me nuts!!

Your Nero version is obsolete, update to 6.6.0.18 first.
Try to find a newer firmware for your burner.

All your drives are listed as DMA OFF, is this normal with this nvidia IDE driver? Are they running in DMA??

Thanks chef. I thought I had the latest Nero. I will update that first.

As far as the Nvidia IDE drivers…what a pain!! I just rolled back to the MS IDE drivers and now DMA is enabled.

I will update all and report back.

Thanks for the ideas.

You can improve the quality of your drive by crossflashing it with this file:
http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares/dvdrw/1653S.CS0T.patched-cf-mcled.rar
But don’t expect a 1633 to burn @ 16x with good results!

 Leo

Thanks leo, I will give that a try.

I also had good luck burning a DVD!! I upgraded the ASPI, did the firmware, got rid of the Nvidia IDE drivers for the MS ones and burned at 8x. I think I am in business now.

Thanks for the help.
