Software for audio manipulation?

Hello everyone,

I have a file that contains sound recorded with my mobile phone and I want to make a ring-tone out of it. It’s the sound of a fire-alarm that occasionally goes off at work and we have to evacuate the building.

But the sound is not clean and goes quieter in some places. Is there some kind of program that would allow me to clean up all the interferences? Maybe by analyzing different frequencies or something?

I haven’t got a clue about it but if any of you know something that might help please let me know. It’d make me very popular at work :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you

Audacity is a free and fairly capable audio editor.
