[QUOTE=mciahel;2084566]Hi and Welcome!
You might also uninstall the IDE controllers from device manager and let Windows reinstall them at the next reboot.
O.K. - the only reason I registered now is to be able to say “THANK YOU !!!”.
I was looking for help with my problem for 4 days now, after discovering that my TSST would not burn DVD whatsoever. Just today I called the German Notebook Manufacturer MEDION Hotline to get a solution. I have to add, I am working with this notebook for almost 2 years - but never tried to burn a DVD - only CD - and that worked fine. Only suggestion of MEDION was to send in the notebook because the drive is definetly malfunctioning and has to be replaced. I actually was hoping to get some clues where to look for the error…
So, you guys - well rather ‘Michael’ - just spared me about 14 days of notebook-free time and a lot of hazard to save sensible data.
To reinstall the ide channels just did the trick. I tried everything else - but after “pretending” burning, every single burning software would not be able to indeed burn something on the dvd, for it always turned out to be empty after the burning process. I did firmware updates and so on - nothing helped.
Now I fixed the problem within 2 minutes by simply removing the IDE-Cannels from device manager. After that VISTA installed ATA-Cannels by itself without even rebooting and finally I can write on dvd.
Thanks so much again.
