Slysoft's new program: Slyce

I haven't seen any discussion around here regarding this new program that Slysoft is developing. It appears to be an equivalent program to CloneDVD 2, but for blu ray video instead of dvds.

They've been talking about making a program like this for several years, and I haven't been over to their forums for a while, so I was surprised to see a thread that began the 28th of May discussing this beta program. Here is the link: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=53392

It will be quite close in function to BD Rebuilder, though it offers some new features, like opening ISO files directly, and more preview options. There is nothing in it to tempt me personally, at least not so far. BD Rebuilder is really quite good, and Slysoft cannot match its price.

What they are not talking about much so far is Cinavia removal. But if they come up with a scheme to attack Cinavia, I believe it will come through this program. But its still beta. May be an interesting program to watch for in the future.

Thanks for that Kerry and that sounds like it could be an interesting development.

I don’t think Cinavia removal will be accomplished any time soon but Slysoft have been proposing a media player that bypasses it (by ignoring Cinavia) for quite some time now.

Anything from Slysoft though is always worth a look.

That’s exactly what they said about BD+ couldn’t be broken and not long after Slysoft did exactly that break BD+. So Cinavia removal won’t be that much harder. CSS broken…BD+…Broken…Cinavia…Broken in good time…so nothing is forever…Give them time and they will break it. Cinavia will die a quick death. Goes as the saying you can make it they can break it…Not only that people will stop buying Cinavia infected media thus killing their profit and making them think really hard “WHO GOT SERVED”. I already can backup BD media already 1:1 without using BDrebuilder.

This program is still in progress and developing, there is no beta to download as of yet. But I can confirm that this product is and will be one of a kind. I am not sure if this will be a Slysoft only product because CloneDVD2 is an Elaborate Bytes product that Slysoft sells. I am not privy to all the details so I can only assume this will be a separate product called Sylce.

Would be interesting to have BD50 to BD25 conversion for 3D but looks like so far only one product can do this.

From well-places sources I can offer some clarification

• Slyce will be solely offered by SlySoft. There is no marketing connection for this product with Elaborate Bytes and the legacy product CloneDVD2.

• using the old truth “built by man, fixed by man” SlySoft has stated quite often that Cinavia can/will be bypassed, but not right away after the Slyce roll-out. After all, it does not prevent making the back-up.
  The easiest solution for the “Cinavia problem” is to use a player which cannot play retail Blu-ray discs. There are some media players which even support full blown Blu-ray menus, like the Netgear NTV550 (not tested myself).
  No retail Blu-ray playback = no AACS license required = no Cinavia.
  If you can live without full menus, there are many very good and very cheap media players available.

IMHO recording to Blu-ray media is extremely painful anyway. Expensive, slow, unreliable.

A harddisk as a backup media is cheap & fast.

• Creating 3D from 2D content is a nice fantasy but not realistically feasible.

There are key differences between these two scenarios though.

BD+ is software based and can therefore be reverse engineered then non-destructively removed.

Cinavia watermarks/alters the original content and it hasn’t been established if this can be non-destructively removed.

It could be the case that this watermarking process is destructive and has completely overwritten original data that is therefore impossible to reconstruct from the butchered files.

All I’m saying is that it’s a different case with Cinavia as there’s no obvious line of attack which is in contrast to every other type of protection that has gone before.

yes, but since Slysoft is willing to do it then it will eventually find a way. BD+ was suppose to be not able to be broken as I said but it was. So Cinavia might be trickier but give them time and they will get around it as well.

I’ve been reading the Slyce thread http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=53392 and trying to understand the screen shots but there’s something still not clear to me. Will Slyce be able to shrink a BD and output to a DL Dvd?

Yes, and you not the only one. Also the Movie studios are fumming at the mouth because this will break their BD copy protections schemes again… lol But for the rest of the users of Slysoft were all in the wings and waiting for its release. There is probably a chance their server will go down because of all the buying… lol and studios buying their software to try to reverse engineer it to block it…

The word over on Slysoft’s Forum is Slyce is supposed to hit the streets in [B]December 2012[/B]. I’ve been watching and waiting on this software for ages.

I have tried other methods but the effort to get the results we want (a BD 25 backup with the main move, chapters, English subtitles, and Dolby 5.1 sound) are not simple like CloneDVD is for DVDs. My last workable solution was to use AnyDVD HD to make an ISO and then shrink the whole thing (which usually has a lot of useless stuff for me) with DVDFab.

I’m not up to speed on the Cinavia issues, probably because I’m not doing much in this area while I wait on Slyce. I just want to make a back up of disks we own so we can take them to the Cabin and let the kids play them without worry they’ll get destroyed. (Like we do with CloneDVD.)

Hopefully Christmas is coming…

Anymore information on Slyce yet, it’s been a few years?

Maybe CloneBD may have the engine it already? …but was interested in what are they going to do with CloneDVD and CloneDVDMobile if they will have it in it too, or, will those possibly be replaced?
CloneDVD & CloneDVDMobile haven’t had updates in years, and so was wondering what’s the future with them.

Slyce was renamed to CloneBD endeavorz. And it is an Elby product, not from Slysoft themselves.

Haven’t heard any word on the CloneDVD programs, but I don’t really keep up on them.

Okay thanks Kerry, that makes sense.
I haven’t kept up as you can tell and am a little late to the party, however I think CloneDB is really nice and I also think they need to do the same thing to CloneDVD and put it’s Mobile all into one product, also supporting .mkv of course

I never got this SlySoft and Elby thing and why they are not one at this point. Must of been some falling out or something human, guess I really don’t need to know - it’s just that whomever the coders are they make good software proven by AnyDVD and CloneBD which are winners in my book, and again CloneDVD needs to be brought forward… of course all of my thoughts are just imho. CloneBD is still really just a Beta Project. They rolled it out when it was definitely not ready for prime time. They made Testers out of a long list of loyal users. A new “patch” comes out virtually every week. Sometimes a lot more => Like 4 times in 5 Days! (April 24th to 29th ).

I can’t keep up with it so about once a month or so since release (December 12, 2014) I try it on the same disk. It’s a 2008 Concert disk called Bon Jovi - Live at Madison Square Garden so there isn’t anything new about it. AnyDVD rips a perfect image of it to my Hard Drive. But every time I try CloneBD there is no sound. The Image and Menus seem fine - just not a peep!:Z

All I wanted was AC3 (or DTS 5.1) capability and the Main Movie (Concerts mostly) with the functioning menu to fit onto a 25GB BD-R. I don’t need all the extras or HD sound at the Cabin.

So far all CloneBD makes are Coasters.
