We’ve just posted the following news: Slysoft is gone forever – the end of an era[newsimage]http://www.myce.com/wp-content/images_posts/2016/02/myce-slysoft-the-end-95x75.jpg[/newsimage]

A team member from Slysoft today posted on the company’s forum that ‘Slysoft is gone’. This marks the end of an era that lasted 13 years while the company was continuously under pressure from all kinds of organisations that tried to shut it down.

I would not be too surprised if you’re right.
Passkey is great though and I can pretty much use any application I like to rip.
It should of course be mentioned that I rip blu-ray audio discs and only occasionally rip a DVD and so I am pretty much on my own island compared to the rest here using DVD Audio Extractor in conjunction with Passkey :stuck_out_tongue:

You can’t fault a business person for making a sound business decision. But I suspect that the real issue was dropping income due to market saturation and the whole “lifetime license” pricing scheme. They may have fallen victim to their own good customer relations.

Bottom line is that if it was making enough money they would have kept going.

The SlySoft team member quoted in the article, also posted:

No worries about that. Nobody is listening:

  1. WE shut down the servers, not an authority
  2. All our servers are still under OUR control
  3. Our servers are all ENCRYPTED

So relax…

I don’t care if ‘they’ are listening…I’m relaxed about that, because even if ‘they’ would track me down,in my country I’m still entitled to make a backup copy of my movie discs.
But I’m not relaxed because ‘they’ took away my legal right to create that backup, and I’m forced to comply to US laws, while I’m not a US citizen…:Z

Anyone know about “MakeMKV” is that another alternative ?

R.I.P. Yes MakeMKV is a good one. Then I use Vidcoder to shrink it down.

Very sad news indeed. :frowning:

I missed most of this due to a migraine over the last couple of days but this definitely the end of an era. :frowning:
