Slow performance? 0.3 x read speed? (Toshiba SD-L802B)

[qanda]This question is published in the hardware section for the Toshiba SD-L802B. Click here to view full specs.[/qanda]Hi; does anyone have this drive working in a non HP notebook? Can you confirm that you can get a decent read speed (decent enough for stutter-free HD-DVD playback?) I ordered an TS-L802A on ebay, which turned out to be defective, and was sent the SD-L802B in its place… but I thought the SD was an “HP-Specific” drive (with “HP Firmware”). I am trying to use this drive on a Dell computer (I don’t THINK it should be a problem but who knows). The fastest read speed I can get is 0.3x (on third) and of course HD-DVD playback is intolerable. If anyone is using this drive successfully, please let me know exactly what you did to get it working… because just “plugging it in” doesn’t seem to work… or the drive is faulty. Thanks

This drive should only be in a Toshiba Laptop, if at all…
