Microsoft’s popular video chat and voice call service Skype will no longer be supported on smart TVs starting today. Users will also no longer be able to signup or reset their password from their TV, this only remains possible through the Skype website.

Seeing has how smart phone manufacturers rarely provide updates for said phones after a year or two, I doubt smart TV manufacturers will want to maintain Skype themselves. After all, it might require someone to put in actual effort, on company time, no less.

Of course, I shouldn’t complain, seeing as how I lack both a smart TV and a Skype account. I probably won’t be getting either any time soon.
