Single mother loses against RIAA, has to pay $2.4m

A US jury has ordered a 32-year-old woman to pay $US1.92 million ($A2.4 million) in damages for illegally downloading 24 songs in a high-profile digital piracy case.

Jammie Thomas-Rasset, a single mother of four from the US state of Minnesota, was found liable for using the Kazaa peer-to-peer file-sharing network to download the songs over the internet.

And just how can pay this fine?

Not, and she’s appealing.

It’s no use. She can and will never ever pay this amount.

The RIAA is a bunch of money hungry greedy bast@^%$ and those crazy @ss jurors wanting to award the
RIAA $80,000 per song is just plain ridiculous. I could see maybe .50¢ - $1.00 per song but …
$80,000 per song  something is definitely wrong with the legal system in this country  If the RIAA can get
$80,000 out of each and every song then I will sell the RIAA all of my music CD’s for $1000.00 per song and they
can resell them all @$80,000 a piece. :iagree:
