For a safedisc 2.9 game just use the safedisc 1 datatype settings (or safedisc 2 but with Bypass efm error unchecked) with an Asus CRW-5224A.
However, when you make your image watch the log to see if read errors occur after about the first 10,500 sectors (this sometimes happens when reading safedisc protected cds using alcohol with this writer). If you do get them after the bad sector zone then junk that image and read again at a lower speed.
As for write speed, I find that 16x works fine but if you have problems at that speed slow it down to 8x or even 4x (the minimum).
also iam using the new 1.35 firmware....was a no no no???
Well I did too and it doesn't stop you copying sd 2.9 cds BUT I found that after flashing to that firmware version the drive has become very media picky. The update was supposed to be one of those match more media types but all I've found is that after updating it no longer recognises two-thirds of the blank cdrs that I regularly use, all of which it previously recognised without a problem. :a
