Sima ct-200 70$ plus a 20$ rebate

compusa has the sima ct-2 on sale for 100 - 30 instant - 20 mail in = 50$
http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=311514&pfp=SEARCH
in store though, it is the ct-200 (150$ at circuit city) on sale. Others at fat wallet got the higher model for the lower price too. I just got mine a couple of hours ago, so it is not a mistake, or if it is, it doesn’t look like they are going to fix it. They didn’t even have the ct-2 at the store I went to but they had about 6 ct-200’s. No guarentees your store will have em, but the ct-200 is ringing at the the advertised price for the ct-2. Fyi I don’t even see the ct-200 on compusa’s web site to see what it normally sells for but it’s 150$ at circuit city. Someone on fat wallet sugested that the substitution of the higher model might be because of a lawsuit setelment but they did not give details and I could not find out anything. Still, a great price for a ct-200 (especially since macrovision is suing sima and we may not be able to get these too much longer).

Yo ripper-

Great price for a great product (love how mine works) too bad I did not get in on the rebate though-

Mike

Is yours the ct-2 or the ct-200 (and if you don’t mind me asking, what did you pay for it)?

I just saw that office max has them for 80$ (still not as cheap as cusa). It’s kind of odd to se such a huge price diffrence between office max and circuit city. Anyone know what the ct-200 normally goes for (not on sale)? Yes I have googled but didn’t find too much.

How do you copy VHS to dvd anyways? You guys know of a good guide or can you give me your guide?

Is this product all you need to get the job done? This sima contraption.

Yo ripper-

No problemo-

Paid like $67 shipped from B&H Camera in NYC a month ago-

@cbboy777 - there is a thread over in the noob forum that goes into a lot of detail - and you can read it here:

Should answer most - if not all your questions-

Mike

Hi all, I am looking for a Sima CT-200 or product similar to it, can you one help?

Thank you,

JT

Welcome jtl74: This should get you started.

You won’t liklly find a ct-200 except on ebay and then its probably going to be way over priced. Macrovision sued sima so it got pulled off the market (and you are probably not going to find anything similar in any major retail stores). There are several similar units sold online though. If you are just trying to get rid of macrovision on video tapes, I think there might even be some cheap ones for around 30-40$ that work with most tapes.
There are some newer sima models floating around

And I had heard that sima was selling the discontinued ones again, but without there name on it. Maybe this one

I have no idea for sure if that is the same as the sima, but I’m holding mine right now, and this one looks 100% identical to the ct-200. The plastic case looks like it came out of the same exact mold. Every conector and switch is identical in placment and apearance.

What are you trying to do? They work for macrovision but they also work for things like cable tv copy protection (at least they did with analog cable, but I’m not sure whats going to happen with the digital switch over).

I would try searching ct-200 over on video help forums.

There are several threads that go into the particulars of what various units are actualy capable of (be for warned though, there are a few people there that think if its not a 1000$ unit, its crap, but the cheaper ones are discussed too).

Here is one for 35$ (no ide if it is good, but some of the cheapo ones work with most vhs macrovision if that is what you are looking for).

Google for promotioal codes! Last time I bought from Heartland I got free shipping and $10 off using promotional/coupon codes found through googling.

The 200 series has always been @ $100 as regular price.

Looks like Heartland America has the Sima CT-200 for $69.00. (see above link)
