sigh this is getting old, just got a new burner, had a Pioneer DVR 109, got a Pioneer DVR 111.

Just tried burning RV, using AnyDVD to decrypt, DVD Shrink, and Nero to burn.

First, upgrade to Nero 6.6.0.18.
Second, enable all your devices to DMA on:

=== Scsi-Device-Map ===
DiskPeripheral : SiImage Si3114r5 Port 0 ID 16 DMA: Off
OtherPeripheral : SI Pseudo Device 0000 Si3114r5 Port 0 ID 16 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D nvata Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : SONY CD-RW CRX320EE nvata Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off
DiskPeripheral : WDC WD740GD-00FLC0 nvata Port 3 ID 0 DMA: Off
Double check that the devices reflect the change after reboot. Then try again. If still error, you can try the alternative using RipIt4Me to rip and and burn with Imgburn.

Thanks i’ll try that then post back, however how do I turn DMA on.

Go to Device Manager, IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller, right-click on Primary IDE channel and select Properties, then go to Advanced Settings tab. You’ll see the Current Transfer Mode for Device 0 and 1. Select the Transfer Mode for “DMA if available”. Click OK. Do the same for Secondary IDE channel. Reboot. Then go back and double check.

Note that if you have XP Pro, you might see 2 instances of primary/secondary IDE channel, select the one that has 5 tabs, which only has the Resources tab.

If DMA is still not on, then right-click on the primary/secondary IDE channel and “Uninstall”. Reboot. Windows will automatically re-install the appropriate drivers for you. Go back and Double-check again.

Attached is a picture i don’t see the IDE thing you’re talking about. what do I do?

ok, your system setup is different then. Can you tell me your system spec, including OS?

What SATA or PATA controller (1,2,3) do you select to show the Primary channel picture on the right? In the picture what’s in Secondary Channel? I’m wondering why read/write caching and command queueing is not enabled. How 'bout you uncheck “Let BIOS select transfer mode” and see if you can manually check the other options and select the Transfer Mode.

Maybe you can check in your BIOS to see if DMA is enabled. I don’t remember which section. Your BIOS setup maybe different than mine.

my Specs are

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
AMD Athlon64 X2 4400 2.2/2.2gig
2 gig Corsair XMS TwinX
Windows XP Home
74.4 gig 10krpm WD Raptor
300gig WD 16meg cache

It’s the Parallel one that i select to bring those up

Edit: in Secondary is nothing, same as the rest in the SATAs

You have a very nice system. Built for game and video processing?

Try the approach what I said above about turning on DMA. Or maybe you can search on Microsoft Knowledge Base site for your particular setup.

Forgot to ask, what version of AnyDVD are you using? What region is your RV? I read that AnyDVD 6.0.4.5 + DVDShrink works just fine, assuming that you already have upgraded your Nero burning engine. Search the forums for RV, there are some discussions already.

As I said earlier, RipIt4Me + Imgburn will be the alternative if above fails.

Yeah for gaming, i have for graphics cards, dual 7800 GTX’s in SLI.

uhm which DMA do i select?

and i upgraded my Nero to 6.6.1.4, annnd… my anydvd is…the version you mentioned.

The highest DMA mode you can select - UDMA 4.

I read that DVDShrink has problem with 6.6.1.4 burning engine, if you are using DVDShrink to burn. 6.6.0.18 is more compatible. Read HERE.

I prefer to use Imgburn to burn all my dvds.

Delete

Use DvDShrink and save your output as an iso, then use Imgburn to burn your image.

tried to burn… with img burn and i got some weird error, like “i/o device error” something like that, had try again continue and cancel. kept coming up until i hit cancel.

It is best to disable AnyDVD when burning and verifying.

You might want to update your drive F/W to 1.23: http://tdb.rpc1.org/index.htm#DVR111D

Don’t burn at 16x, reduce the speed to like 8x first.

Another newb question, how exactly do i update my firmware?

Ah never mind, i figured out how to do it. lol

Btw thanks for spending all this time trying to help me tonight, hopefully we get this fixed. =)

ok, never mind then. Good luck! I gotta go as well. Any other questions, I’m sure other members will jump in to help you.

tried burning as you guys said, it seems to error out when it tries to verify.

ok awkward i reburned… turned off varify so it didn’t error out on me, said it was successful… and so far the movie is working,(i dun wanna watch it all the way through right now tho lol)
