Newegg is a great vendor. If you buy from them, newegg will replace your drive if it fails within a year or give you a refund within 30 days. I have never had any backtalk or other crap from them about a product not being "defective enough" for a replacement.
If you have to deal with BenQ customer service in the US directly, you will probably have a bad experience.
Unfortunately, I bought mine in Canada and shipping is just too expensive to make it worthwhile for me to RMA again to the reseller and BenQ says a drive that burns at 4x isn't defective.
It is really the luck of the draw. If you get one made in china, may 2005 you are doomed to RMA... imho.
