Now if this was a raid array, it would even more impressive. :P~~ Yumm, Raid5 set top TV device, so nerdily useless.

“Hmmm, ‘hi-vision recordings’, I wonder what that is? A little marketing hype maybe.” I think that term is used more than high definition in Japan. Essentially it’s the same.

I wonder when this wil get to the UK? and at what price!?! The LiteOn being under 200 pounds , I doubt looking at the spec it’s going to that cheap.

FreqNasty- hey thanks for the explanation about hi-vision, that makes perfect sense. Now if I can just afford one of these puppies when they hit the US.

If I remember right, Hi-Vision was a brand name used for certain MUSE (analog hi-def) devices in Japan. I’ve seen it before the digital HDTV standards were anything more than an idea. If it was a Sharp brand though, I suppose they could apply it to whatever video format they want (much like they applied the ViewCam name, which was original an 8mm camcorder, to their mini-DV camcorders)

The LiteOn being under 200 pounds , I doubt looking at the spec it’s going to that cheap. The Lite-on has no drive, just signal to dvd - so yep, it will be much cheaper, and the 400GB version will cost loads. Thing is, in the UK wiht our now 3rd rate digital tv, such quality is wasted. We need a pan european HD channel to start up.
