SH-W162Z (CD/DVD RW reading troubles)

Hi guys!

First, I am REALLY sorry about my bad English. I hope you can understand.

I think this is the better place to put my doubt.

I just bought a SH-W162Z burner and it’s giving me an error with my RW medias (I don’t know if they are – or + or any else details but I can check when it reads…) and sometimes my burner reads and sometimes doesn’t do that. It’s like there wasn’t any media inside. I thought it was about the DVD-RAM feature (I read somewhere that this drive doesn’t support it) but if it would be the case I think it wasn’t never read the media and not only sometimes.

Is there a hope to be about only my medias or there is a way to be some trouble with my drive? It’s what I wanna know to see if I need to change it before the warranty expires.

Can anyone help me please?

Ok… Here is the specification of one media of mine:

Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-RW:Prodisc DW04]

Disc & Book Type : [DVD-RW] - [DVD-RW]
Manufacturer Name : [Prodisc Technology Inc.]
Manufacturer ID : [Prodisc DW04]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]

This one reads only sometimes. Right now it isn’t reading anymore
I think i need to change the drive on the store :frowning:

You should try high quality DVD-RWs (Verbatim for example)

Thanks dude!

I tried a Samsung +RW one. And it works pretty fine. There seems to be a low quality disk problem as you said. I’ll try another ones like that Verbatin that you suggested me and post the results here later.

Mh, Samsung +RW?

Would be also cheap media.

RW media is very sensitive, buy only good ones, eg. Verbatim and Ricoh!
