I have an issue I'm hoping I can get some help on. I just installed (2) Samsung SH-S223Q DVD Writers. No matter what I do, the read and write speed of these (I suppose only 1, I have only tried the D drive) is incredibly slow. It is broken slow. The first issue was when I tried to install the OEM Nero tools from the disc that came with the drives. After over an hour of running the disc, the program was about 25% installed. It wasn't locked, it was making progress, but obviously incredibly slow. I abandoned that and tried to burn a data disc through windows explorer. The data was about 1.5GB and I used drag & drop to the disc. It started out moving fairly fast, but then slowed down to a 450 kb/s rate before I got frustrated and canceled out of it. There is definitely something wrong here.
What I have tried so far:
Updated the firmware to SB02
Updated the firmware to patched SB00
Updated the firmware to patched ST01 (current)
I have tried changing some of the BIOS settings, but that doesn't work at all. My system has (2) SATA hard drives on SATA 1 & SATA 2 and these 2 dvd drives on SATA 3 & SATA 4. If I try to enable RAID or AHCI in the BIOS, after the post it will scan the drives, recognize the hard drives, and then find the dvd drives but flash their names and then re-boot. It obviously does not like what I have done with them.
I'm guessing at this point I have some kind of setting wrong, but I can't figure out what it is. All of my system info is below. if I have left anything out let me know. If anyone could help out, that would be great!
