SH-203B 20x burn on 16x media?

How do I force 20x burn speed on 16x rated media?

I only see 16x in Nero 7 and Alcohol etc. I’ve already updated the firmware to the latest SB01.

Also it’s connected via SATA in AHCI mode.

Any ideas please?

Only a few media codes will do it, MCC004 , TYG03, Yuden000-T03-000 for sure, maybe a few others.

Thanks, so if the media is supported the faster burn options will show up in Nero etc?

Thanks

They should in that case.

Thanks, I was just getting worried since it says on the Samsung site that it’s possible to burn 16x media at 20x, I assumed this was for all media.

Hi
You can view the f/w using ala42’s MCSE.
This shows which media is rated for 20x etc.
Example using original f/w.

Thanks for the SS, very interesting

That screen shot is with firmware SB00 with SB01 MCC004 is supported also.

Does anyone know which media on here can be burnt at 20x? http://svp.co.uk/category/dvd_minus_r_non_minus_printable_(16x)

Does 20x media even exist?

Nope not yet :disagree: and it will probably be quite a while (if ever) before it shows up
on the store shelves for sale.

I agree with Alan1476 and can varify that you can burn at 18x or 20x with those media ID’s.

Thanks, I used MCSE and I’m going to buy some media that can burn at 20x even though it is rated for 16x.
