SH-183A, does it do quality scans?

I’m new here as you might have noticed and I have real easy questions.
I’ve seen the 182 do scans in DVD-Speed but just to be sure I ask anyway, does the 183A support this as well?

#2

Damn hard question apparently. I answer myself: yes it does.

#3

Hehe yep, and it does it quite well too.
Damn finding the registry key in Vista to allow the drive to use CD-Speed was real pain though.

#4

Who forbids it?

#5

Nero CD-DVD Speed’s default settings.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ahead\Nero Toolkit\CD Speed\CD Quality\Blocked usually contains PLEXTOR, HL-DT-ST, TSST, SAMSUNG.
It included PIONEER and NEC before but now doesn’t anymore.

In Vista 64 the key is here.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ahead\Nero Toolkit\CD Speed\CD Quality

Hi,

Just got the 183A and followed your path to this directry and located the blocked key. But what do i do to allow scanning ???

I have deleted the file - nothing - no quality scanning

I have renamed the file and nothing either. ???

Any help and instructions would be great.

Thanks in advance. :bigsmile::bigsmile:

Hi,

This is a FAQ
Just delete the strings “Samsung” and “TSST” from that registry entry.

I too blanked the key and it knew something was fishy, you must leave something in there.

Should look like this.
