SH-182M Does not read discs after burn

I can burn without any problems and the discs will read/play fine on another computer or in my Oppo DVD player, however when I try to play them back on the computer they were burned, the system says I have inserted a blank disc and PowerDVD or WinDVD will not read the disc.

I am running Vista Ultimate and have looked through the device manager and nothing appears out of the norm. I am running firmware SB03. What should I be looking for to fix this?

Thanks,
Tom

Are you using -Rs? If so, you might want to check out this thread.

I’m using Verbatim DL +R (MKM001). I’ve tried all available firmwares including the custom cdfreaks one with no luck. The only other thing I’m going to try that was mentioned was attached a second optical drive to the same ribbon. If that fails, back to NewEgg it goes. :frowning:

as some had suggested in the thread mentioned above, I added a second optical drive as the slave and the initial drive could all of the sudden read my DVD+R DL media. Very strange fix! Any idea why that fixes the read problem?

What controller/chip is the drive connected to?
