Executive Summary: For as low as $ 80 online, the Lite-On SOHW-812S stands out as a good performer for a great price. The Sony DRU-530A still acquits itself very well, especially with the new firmware update. It’s certainly on our recommended list for single layer burners for as low as $ 110 online. If money is not an issue, then the almost over-engineered Plextor PX-712A is the best single layer drive on the market for around $ 180.00 online
