I’m running Win XP Pro with a screen resolution of 1280 x 800. I want to change it to a higher resolution, but I’m not sure how to do it as it won’t let me when I go to Display Properties and try to change it there.
On TFT screens you shouldn’t use any higher than the “native” resolution. It’s the only one that will give you a sharp picture. That’s why the option is not available.
Is it a laptop?
I’ve never seen this with a desktop. I have LCD monitors and I can change the settings. I’ve never seen a resolution of 1280x800. I run 1280x1024.
I suppose it depends on the video hardware and driver.
The only fix is to buy an new gfx that supports a higher resolution.
i dont think thats the case. I have a gainward 7900gt, and use a 17" sony sdm-hs75p and i get max 1280 x 1024. I wouldnt want any higher, but if his screen is a 15" then i dont think he will get higher. If it is a 17" then you could be right, maybe he does need a new graphics card.
