how do I set up reading speed on benq1620? damn drive is reading at prehistoric pace of 1.56x and that is the best. frustration building up.
Either DMA is not enabled, you use an old cdspeed version to test, or your firmware is still B7H9 :). Upgrade to B7T9.EDIT: It would help if you supplied more infos, like firmware version, used software and so on.
its b7h9 but how do i upgrade? from where do i get the new firmware?
From the Benq website.
i have a retail benq1620 drive? which one in this link is the driver i need?http://www.benq.com/drivers/storage_drivers.html
there is no b7t9 here. only b7p9
why does one benq site have b7p9 as the latest and the other have b7t9?
thanks, i am in texas though. and bought benq 1620 retail version so is it okay to use the european web site to copy this b7t9 firmware and use it on my benq 1620? no harm to the burner?
No harm to the burner. And it is OK to use the European website to download the firmware that you need.
Some websites seems to be faster on updates than others.
Wish a Mod would merge all these threads by newtoburners together I don't even know if you should flash your drive with the way you have your drive set-up. Get your master/slave thing done 1st.
yes i need to do that. i am making a backup dvd movie. and amazing things are happening. reasons unknown.reading speed maximum - 1.5xwriting speed - .0x -.5x.?wow i am impressed. love this antique. by tomorrow morning if i am lucky my benq1620 will have written the movie to my fuji dvd disk. only if: i am lucky. god bless me. looks like it will be by tomorrow after noon. great!!! saying 12 hours now. already been writing for an hour or so.!!! using dvd decrypter and shrink.tomorrow i will have to buy a small screwdriver that fits into that dastardly screw that won't budge in my other drive - a dvdrom and take that thing out and see what it is really on - a cable select - most likely, or a master or slave. then i will put the benq in its place setting it to master and that hard to pull out dvd rom, as slave and see what happens.i am thinking of using b7t9 firmware from the europe web site. instead of the b7p9 from us benq site. may be my luck will turn for the better and my benq will rip and write at 12x or so. but i have to ask this: which firmware is better - b7p9 or b7t9? which one is the latest? and why does benq does not say to get the latest firmware in their bronchure or manual when i have bought this retail benq 1620? why this mystery?
I belive on the 4600 they only have one screw holding the drives in. those 2 (one on each side) in the front are only alignment pins (screws) and don't need to come out. If you have the front plastic off, remove the screw in the rear of the drive (on the removable cover side of the case) and slide it out the front. Of course unplug the wires first with the computer turned off and unpluged.
thats the screw (rear one, holding the drive) that won''t budge. so tomorrow, i will get a small screw driver and get it out. anyone knows a computer store i can go that keeps small screw drivers? radio shack carries it? otherwise i will go to walmart or target.
Ask for a #1 Phillips screwdriver.
