Does the drive have to be set to Primary Master when upgrading the firmware of the drive? seems like a hassle
LG’s firmware update instructions actually specify secondary master alone on the cable, if I remember correctly, rather than primary master. Many people, myself included, have flashed their LG writers successfully, when in positions other than secondary master, with other drives connected to the same cable. So it doesn’t really seem to matter.
It’s probably just a safety measure on LG’s part.
I have had a computer with serial hard drives, that won’t boot with a dvd burner
as master on the secondary and nothing on the primary, bios gives an error message.
It doesn’t really matter to the flash if it’s primary or secondary as long as it’s standalone master on that channel.
