Session fixation with new H12N

Hi

I’m hoping someone can help out with a problem i am having with my new LG burner. This is a replacement for a 4168 which developed a focus/tracking error and even tho i tried the relube advice suggested here, this didnt clear the prob. SO i decided to shelve it and splash out on a new drive. The drive is as bought ie i have not updated the firmware which i think is UL01?

I can burn cds but data dvds seem to be causing probs. Would someone be kind enough to look at the log and see if there is anything i should/could be doing at this end to remedy it.

Maybe:
Manufacturer: : Ritek
MID : RITEKG05

G05 is extremely variable in quality, some burn great, some are total crap under some brands (Ridisc, Rivision…) and/or unbranded. Besides, huge stability problems with G05, can be unreadable in several months after the burn. Beware.
Don’t want to believe me? Read this: G05 is crap media

Maybe it’s not the cause of your issue, but better rule this out by first trying something reliable, like Verbatim.
Bad media is the first source of burning issues.

Thanks for replying it is appreciated. I must admit i have read some of the horror stories on this forum regarding G05 data but have never experienced any probs with this media on my previous now laid to rest LG burner. And even 20 months on, discs that were burnt back then are still perfectly readable now…altho i might not be saying that in a few more months if other people’s experience of that media is anything to go by!!. However, i’m happy to eliminate the potential “bad media” aspect with my new drive as you suggest and will report back …i’ll need to pop into town and pick some better quality media up first!
