If you thought earlier firmware versions were bad…think again!
Here is my first attempt to write a DVD-R, the disc is a Verbatim 8x DVD-R MCC02RG20.
Second trial on the same media type.
K-Probe scan of the disc… Sucks :Z And my JLMS XJ-HD165H that I usually use to test the readability will not even detect the disc
And then writing a ritekg05 8x DVD-R. (I could pick 8x speed in Nero - but it will write at 6x only in nero as well).
And the bad thing? the discs is not readable by any drives.
When I look at the writing surface it seems like it forgot to turn the laser on for the area written at 4x. First there is a tiiiiiiny written ring (lead in I guess) then there is nothing for about 4mm then the rest of the disc is recorded.
This is going from bad to worse.
Not tried 4x writing though…
Yes - I’ve tried two ritekg05, one in CD-Speed and one in Nero - same problem with both.
Guess I won’t bother to update my 082. It already coasters DVD-R on a regular basis, don’t need a new firmware for that. :Z
Just curious OC, do you have any CMC 8x -R? Mine is burned at 6x and results in failed burns with B373.
Nope - they are not sold around here…
No 8x CMC discs is found in Norway yet. Well -there is hardly any CMC media beside CD-R media in Norway
So… what did Nu hire the programming crew from Microsoft “Bob” to do their firmwares? 
Here’s the result of burning a CMC AF1 4x -R with FW B373. The burn completed normally, looks burned, but chech out this disc info from Nero.
That’s quite a bit of available capacity for a fully burned disc! The disc causes most readers to freeze. Kprobe can’t read it either.
Yes i went back to B370 firmware is the best so far for this drive imho.
o my goodness… i’ve never seen such Kprobe results…
Just tested my 081@B375. It coaster’ed my Verbatim +RW. 
I’m not trying (i.e. wasting) any other media in it.
I’ve just noticed on the Nu Tech site that under the HDW-081 there is a firmware titled “DDW_081_B370_Dual.zip.” That’s the next one to get, methinks… (56K)

Yup, it’s the standard B370. Looks like that’s “the one” for 081 owners.
OK, it’s not “the one.” Coaster’ed my Verbatim. Might try BX32 and see what that does.
Dunno why some ppl having “issues” with DVD-R media & F/W 375

It’s not some people, It’s some media. Works fine on some coasters others. B375 is a POS.
I’ve been running B375 firmware because it burned DVDs that played on my PS2. Now, that I’ve bought a new standalone player that works with disks burned using earlier firmware B372 and B370, should I go back to one of these versions? Also my player supports +media, would it be better to burn with this media type only? Thanks.
