Serious dual layer burning problems 203B - Pidata

I bought some Pidata media from SVP buyers club, however the entire tin of 25 bar one failed to burn an image I have on my HDD. I bought them based on the dye and recommendations from the reviews.

Here is what keeps happening in nero

Now I have contacted SVP who were helpful and said I can choose my replacements. Which would you suggest I buy, ideally looking for an 8X printable dvd.

Also has anyone returned with SVP, how does it work. She said she would just send replacements?

These are the ones I bought that consistently fail.

http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=3331&prepg=1

Go for Verbatim MKM003 if you can find them as printable.

RiTEK media once was good, but nowdays no more… :disagree:

BTW, as per log, your S203B didn’t even start to burn first layer.
Can you burn SL media successfully?

Yep can burn SL successfully on some old ANV media.

Illegal key from what I have read means unsupported media?

RiTEK-S04 is supported media. No worries about that.
Try to edit firmware with MCSE (edit RiTEK-S04 4x speed line to RiTEK Sx4) if you still wanna burn these discs at 8x. I would settle at 4x. I

Others then that, try Verbatims.
.

Hi thanks, got another log that says key medium error? Is it possible that I got just a bad batch ( really bad! )

While you have that crap on your hands, play around a little and educate us about latest RiTEK DL media. :flower:

We are here fore testing arn’t we.

Oooops, just noticed you have been with us one moth more longer then I.

What do you need to know lol. I have 23 coasters sitting here!

Also all the coasters have horrible burn circles which dont seem right?

I know that verbs are the best ( use them for single layer ) but they are slow and expensive.

What about these?

http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=2026&prepg=1#reviews

Thanks.
That answers all our questions.

Now a question for you. What’s better; five successfull burns on Verbatim media for a kost of $20 or 23 wasted DL discs for $50. Your call.

BTW, I never used RICOHJPND01 media on S203B drive but maybe others will chim in.

This is cat and mouse game. You take a chance to get good +R DL burns.

Now where are you?

Sorry all. That was not my intention.

I just know what works and what doesn’t. Firmware might support 20 different DL MID’s but for most of the time, Verbatims (MKM***) is the only media you’ll be able to enjoy after the burn.

I am in the UK, my old NEC never kicked up about media feel I might have made a mistake with this burner :frowning:

Ok the media HAS to be from SVP as they are the people replacing the disks

Choose from here please

http://svp.co.uk/products-list.php?cid=273

Okay seriously, joking aside.

My choice for printable media;
http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=3826&prepg=3

Change write strategy to 8x with MCSE and I’m almost sure you’ll be able to burn them at 8x. I’m at least.
(Edit. Where the heck is my 8x MKM001 burn posted in that 80+ pages S203B “Close” thread).

The amount of DL burns are hardly noticeable here at CDF’s.

Ok thanks, but my CC is stretched til payday :o

So verbs are the best, I would however appreciate some feedback on those other disks I listed. Tempted to order them.

Sod it, wish me luck just emailed them requesting the infiniti. :o

Your wish is my command, though I must warn you now that I’ve only burned them on: LiteOn 165P6S, Sammy SH-S182D (both of which completed a burn at the rated 8x, but playback was an issue come the second layer).

I also tried them on an LG E10N (which does support +R DL at 8x or 10x, I forget which) - this wouldn’t even start a burn, leave alone complete one. Plus it would only give 4x as a burn speed.

Personally, I wouldn’t take another chance with those Infiniti 360’s, but it’s your call.

Edit: Rats, too late! FWIW, I too would go for the Verbs.

Think most of members here live on tight budget. (Not me though.)

Okay, found my post in that 80+ pages S203B thread. Verbatim MKM001 2.4x rate was actually burned at 10x
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.php?p=1858558&postcount=660

My advice; don’t waste your time searching, just buy them when you have $$, (or GBP or whatever currency).

Aii too late, damn!

Bah, these are only for burning backup games media. So playback is not so much an issue so long as the burn works well enough for installation without errors.

Great, so these ones were a POS as well!

They burn 100%, but are unreadable for most of them afterwards!

Are there ANY decent 8X media for this burner? I am getting the feeling i made a HUGE mistake in buying the samsung.

Surely there is media that that does works that is not verbs?

That’s exactly what I found with the ones that completed a burn :iagree:

I honestly think you’d have a problem with those on many burners; as I said, I tried the ones I have on 3 different makes of burner :(. I don’t think you made a mistake buying the Sammy :disagree:

I think if you can get hold of some CMC-made ones (have a look on SVP for DLs with CMC mediacode) you may still be in with a chance, but at the end of the day, Verbies are the only DL discs pretty much guaranteed to give a good burn and performance.
