Send drive back?

I got my DVDRW today which I bought off ebay a week ago. The DVDRW advertised was a LiteOn SHW-160P6S 16x Dual Layer DVDRW Black which I paid £22.00 inc P&P for.

After a weeks wait the postman has just delivered the drive but to my surprise the DVDRW didn’t look like the drive on ebay, after insatlling the drive into my system I discovered that I have been sent a Lite-On LH-20A1P drive instead.

Now my question is, which is the better drive? the LiteOn SHW-160P6S or Lite-On LH-20A1P. If the LiteOn SHW-160P6S is a far better drive then I will send the Lite-On LH-20A1P back but if the difference isn’t worth the hassle then I wont.

Should I send it back or not?

Thanks in advance

The 160P6S is a great drive but the 20A1P is also a great drive. I believe I’d
just keep the 20A1P since it is a newer drive and for the better FW support
for it than what there is for the 160P6S.

The one you got is a lot newer, plus it is a 20x burner.

Thats up to you. I find the LH-20A1P is a very good drive.
It usually beats the other drives in my .sig for burn quality.

Some LH-20 drives suffer from loud vibrations. My LH-20
is very quiet, at least as quiet as my other drives. I have an LH-18
which is very noisy. It works ok otherwise.

If the LH-20 is reasonably quiet and produces good quality
burns, I would keep it.

Thanks for the replys,

I’ve used the drive and its burned serveral DVD’s with no problems at all, its quiet and I’ve used a few different speed discs with no issues at all.

I don’t see the point in sending it back as, like you have all said, its a good drive.

Cheers

I agree. The last official firmware release
for the 160P6S was last September.
Lucky for me that fw works pretty good.
