Microsoft’s Internet Explorer successor, Edge, is much safer than it’s predecessor and just as safe as Google Chrome, according to antivirus company Trend Micro. Microsoft has added all kinds of security measures to the browser and removed vulnerable components.

I expect more security companies to say the same thing as Trend. The issue with Edge at this stage is it’s lack of extensions but this will change within a few months as extensions compatible with Chrome are being supported on Edge.

Obviously, developers are going to produce more malware for Chrome. Chrome and Internet Explorer are respectively the first and second most popular browsers according to statcounter, so of course that’s what malware developers are going to target, especially as IE (presumably) gets replaced by edge.
