Second Side always has errors

[qanda]This thread is about the Memorex 16x MRX-510L v1 Internal. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Hello. Thanks ahead of time to everyone for your help on this matter. Here my dillemma. I have a Memorex 16x MRX-510l v1 DVD burner. I have tried different types of double layered media, but I always seem to have problems when burning to the second side. Wether I start with A or B. Recently after reading a few post on here regarding improvements when flashing this drive with the LiteON firmware LiteOn SHM-165P6S-MS0R, I downloaded and flashed the drive. Now it takes 6 to 8 minutes less than before to burn a DVD but I am still having the problem when burning the second side.
Any recommendations would help
Thank You

The mentioned DL media is CRAP!

And the log doesnt feature DL media…

Thanks Chef. It was one of your posts in a previous thread that lead me to the firmware I installed, I think it works better now. As far as the post not mentioning media, I copied everything out Nero’s txt file log. What other info can I supply ? I will try with some other media and see if i can recreate the problem.

Which DL media have you tried with?

You may have some luck and success with Ritek S04 media, also with CMC MAG D04, but the only reliable DL media is always from Verbatim (mkm001 & mkm003).

I guess I have my DVD burning jargon all wrong. I’ve been having trouble with double sided DVD’s when burning the opposing side. If I start with Side A, Side B will report burning failed, and vice versa.

Few people have experience with double sided media, we usually use double layer. Regardless you problem is with the brand of media, try another

Oh, DS media.

Your media isnot mentioned here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia?dvdmediasearch=&dvdmediadvdridsearch=&type=1&size=9.4&dvdburnspeed=All&order=Name&hits=50&search=Search+or+List+Media

What brand is it?

Memorex. I figured it should work best with a Memorex drive. This was before that other thread pointed out that its really a LiteON drive.

So in any case, the media choice is bad.
