Esperanza Audio CD-R (Viva Magnetics, MIHK), burned ~20 months ago. No degradation so far.
Why aren’t you using the Advanced Disc Quality which provides you with all the Exy errors instead of just BLER/E32 ? ;)
Good idea. :flower:

The following discs were written on a Creative x2 CD-R drive. I checked the files on two of them, all files pass a checksum test.

Creative CT7402R (golden write layer, came with CD-R drive), Mitsui, ~15 years
Maxell CD-R74XL x6, Hitachi-Maxell, ~12.5 years
Pioneer CDM-W74S, Pioneer, ~15 years

Emtec branded Moser Baer CD-R (10 or 20pk, slim jewel cases, purchased spring 2003).
Written in November 2003 using an LG GCE-8320B 1.04 (24x or 32x).

Multi session disc - 4 sessions. Scanned using a Plextor (PX-716A at 24x) to exclude session lead-in/outs from scan.

This disc has several pinholes in the reflective layer (not present when disc was new) with a small amount of visible oxidation. These correlate with the E22 (C2) errors on the scan.

Emtec branded Moser Baer CD-R (10 or 20pk, slim jewel cases, purchased spring 2003).
Written in May 2004 using an LG GCE-8320B 1.04 (24x or 32x).

Multi session disc - 3 sessions. Scanned using a Plextor (PX-716A at 24x) to exclude session lead-in/outs from scan.

Patches of oxidation visible on the outer edge of the disc. These stop just beyond the written area of the disc, but the scan confirms that the damage extends further in. There is nothing visible which might cause the E22 (C2) spike earlier in the disc

From the same pack of discs as above and they were stored together in a cool dark place. Other discs from this pack (used for everyday copies of audio CDs) weren’t stored carefully but are in perfect condition, it’s only the two containing somthing important which have degraded.

Both discs are still readable, but at greatly reduced speed where the E22 errors are.
