now I have a Lite-On iHAP322 optical drive as my scanning drive; I had a Lite-On SHM-165P6 before (unfortunately, it died 2 weeks ago, that was a perfect drive!).
But the scanning results with this drive are not comparable at all to my former drive. The iHAP322 shows a much higher number of errors than the SHM-165P6; it shows such a high error rate (at 4x speed, though) that the disc would be most likely unreadable. Yet the disc is perfectly readable. Is the iHAP322 a trusty scanner, is it a good scanner at all? It makes little difference whether the scans were made in Nero CD-DVD Speed 126.96.36.199, or in KProbe 2.5.2.
I also have access to a Samsung SH-202J, whose results are similar to the SHM-165P6.
Are the differences in their chipsets really so huge? (And if so, then why?) What is your experience with it? Which is a better/the best scanner? Which drive would you suggest as my next scanner?
Thank you in advance for all your valuable feedback.
