I have a NEC 3540 i am using Verbatim and official Tayo Yuden (TY02) disks only and use it to mostly burn DVD Movies (i.e Vob Files) to disk.
However sometimes whem i have burned a disk and used neros after burn, burn verify (its the box you click while burning and immediately afterwards it scans the disk) it verified fine but when later i have went to watch the film sometime during the movie the film has crashed (the screen during the movie gets all blocky and stops playing).
Usually when i take this disk out of the drive and look at the burn surface of these problematic burned disks i see a very small distinct deep purple spot on the dye. Sometimes more than one.
Firstly are these causing the crashing during playback??
So to rectify this I then started using Nero CD/DVD Speed and use the disk scan. But really honestly dont understand it at all. So i am getting confused with this as i assumed if i get a quality score of 90+ that to me would mean a good perfect burn. But then i was told this is not the case and to look for grouped spikes in the bottom of the two large graphical boxes as this will show problems with the disk. Which i have been.
However lately i have been scanning disks and they have been all getting scores in their 90's and no grouped spikes but when i look at them under the light i can see one or two purple spots on the disk. Are these ok. As for example i scanned a TY02 disk it scored 98 and had only a small list of non grouped spikes throughout the scan but when i took the disk out and looked at it under the light it had a small distinct purple spot on the dye.
I honeslty dont know what to rely on to guarentee my movie burn is perfect. And dont have the time to watch an entire two hour movie after each burn to see if its an ok burn.
So what do i do to ensure my burn is problem free and also is that burn mentioned above ok or not.
