SATA DVD Burners

  1. Can anyone recommend me a good SATA DVD Burner?
  2. Does the BenQ 1620 or NEC 3250 come in SATA
  3. What are the advantages of SATA over IDE for DVD Burners? I assume there are few (if any) advantages.

Plextor 716SA

there are no speed advantages whatsoever. the only reason I would choose to get a sata burner at this time would be to free up some IDE channels where I could then put other optical drives on them.

Unless I had an Intel chipset-based SATA controller, I wouldn’t bother with a SATA burner.

#4

Serial ATA for HDDS would be ok but for burners no go or how should i say unpredictable.

Yep I certainly agree with that. but then if it isnt an Intel chipset based mobo I wont buy it anyway…LOL
